Can you idjits ignore this Redditard already. S'riously. I am disappointed in the willingness of EJMR to be taken in by this troll from Texas.
Wait what's wrong with hating poor people?

I actually have had contact with poor Americans, via working jobs like pizza delivery (which tends to be a career for many, since it pays well enough to pay bills if you work full time). I have seen a little of what the OP observes in the sense that most of these people could be better off, if they made smarter decisions. What the OP fails to realize is that much of these peoples poverty comes from information asymmetry, differences in expectations and that it is less costly for me to succeed (or alternatively less costly for them to fail).
My parents are both scientists have Ph.D. One is tenured at a major university and co-authors at Nobel prize winners. I knew what the SAT was in elementary school. My parents also knew from the beginning what is necessary to get admitted to top tier universities and guide me into activities that would ensure that even happened. The probability of not obtaining at least an university education was very small. If I were to have shown signs of failing out of an university due to poor decision making, I probably would have to essentially transfer to an institution close to my home town, or risk losing my parents financial support. Also in the event I chose to transfer to home institution, my parents were educated enough that they could ensure my completion of an education if I were a total dumbass. In other words probablity of not completing college was very very low.
Now consider the poor kid, in many cases their parents do not posess an education and do not value it. They have to be enlightened enough to know that they need to make certain decisions to achieve at certain levels. In contrast, my parents can be enlightened for me. This lowers their chances of dramatic upward mobility, since they have less information. They probably are self financing their education, and no one is pressuring them to complete. This means the cost of completing education is higher and the costs of failure is lower.this is the one good argument for the poor i've read. it's also the only valid argument, but a very strong one at that.

The reason people dont go to college or finish is because theyre morons. Not to mention not everyone is cut out for college to begin with. There will always be low-IQ people who will have difficulty just graduating high school.
Also, a parents effect on their child's outcome is greatly exaggerated. Everything is pretty much determined at conception. Just dont smoke or do drugs when youre pregnant, vaccinate them when theyre born, feed them, and dont let 'em get molested. Simple.
It gets tougher when theyre idiots. Even more so when the parents are idiots too. Thats when gangs and single mothers become a problem.
In other words probablity of not completing college was very very low.

As a Roman Catholic, I central element of my faith is the idea that I (we) NEED the poor...not the other way around. They keep me grounded, humble, and close my our most Pius servant. I think it may be important to remember that there were many fringe religious groups and individuals in the time of Christ. Christ's message was the one that "caught fire" because it was the one that was inclusive and valued all-the poor, the lepers, prostitutes, etc. ans not just the rich. The notion that wealth was a gift/sign from god and thus made one holy or worthy was dispelled. It was first time a organized faith had seen the value in these most outcast members of society. If you are Christian, especially of the Catholic tradition, do not forget where your God came from, the type of people he took under his roof, the message he spread. Their a is a GOOD reason Priests and men and women religious continue to take vows of poverty with their ordinations. The reason is that it is NOT viewed as bad. Its viewed as being closer to God.

Your job as a Christian, and I would argue as a moral human being in general, is to SERVE. Service to others, not just ourselves benefits the soul of both parties. You can choose to be angry and bemoan the "unfairness" of it all, cry the mantra of "personal responsibility," hold hate in heart cause you "are't getting yours"...OR you could fill your heart with love and piety, and BE/BECOME the Christ. If you "hate" poverty, then pick up ladle and strike up an actual human relationship. Help a brother eat and then teach him to fish...

OP and his alikes are the shame of our profession. I am really sick of reptards who can't understand anything about human nature.
OP write that the sick people are excluded fr his judgment. what about those who are not sick but with a feeble body? What about those who were offered cigarettes when they were twelve and became addicted? Are they responsible for their decision at twelve, given their social environment?
What about the south chicago kid who's brother or sister dies from a lost bullet? Isn't it obvious that he can fall into alcohol violence and depression much more easily than the rich kid of the same ethnicity who gets decent life conditions.
Some of the posts really make me sick.

I'll wager you're in category 2
From that "pretty girl" topic in the original post "hating poor people" was one of the things that apparently made someone a bad person. Can someone explain this? It seems like common sense given certain qualifications:
1. 1st/2nd (MAYBE third if earlier generations were in particularly dire circumstances) immigrants are off limits for obvious reasons. s**t, illegal immigrants hump it across a thousand miles of desert to make $2 an hour and improve their family's situation.
2. People with mental illnesses or other big health problems are off limits.
3. Children are for the most part off limits. Your parents being worthless s**theads doesn't mean you will necessarily be a worthless s**thead, it just means you probably will. If you manage to claw your way to the middle class after college then you're fine.
But ignoring those cases leaves you with like 80-90% of the poor who are just genuinely worthless people. Constantly make s**tty financial decisions (How many poor people do you know that buy lottery tickets? Smoke? Buy a big screen TV on credit?), don't work towards goals that advance their career etc. Generally have a garbage culture. Contribute to the vast vast majority of criminal activity. More likely to have nasty drug problems. More likely to have children out of wedlock.
I would love a girl who is attractive and elitist. That's like, the best kind of girl. No libtard carebear bulls**t. -
Well bashing on the poor for smoking seems unfair. The only reason they drain you is because politicians found a perfect tax target. No one jumps up and says "enough taxes on cigarettes already!" If they were just taxed at sales tax, this would be a trivial product for them to have.
