Not sure it is fair to single her out, and the reason might be her ethnicity and gender.
But I have seen her present the JMP twice. This is a prime example of a serious problem in the profession. None of her advisors (or Dell) know anything about the subject. The advisors exaggerated her accomplishment; she did not collect most of the data she uses, and her claim about how the financial system worked then is clearly false.
When she presents, she does not listen to constructive ideas: she just gets annoyed and will follow up with defensive email.
This is bad for two different reasons. First, the paper could be a lot better and she could give credit to others without making herself look bad. Second, this is a classic case of Cambridge MA circling the wagons to pump up one of their own. Supporting this kind of work without understanding it is really irresponsible.

Well this is the point of this thread. Being a great person shouldnt matter for getting an AE position at the JPE. I don't care if she is kind or not. What did she do to get/deserve that spot? Not a single comment here was able to answer this question convincingly.
