Why do Chinabro(ette)s like to gossip and badmouth their own kind. You don't see white Ameribros gossip about white females in positions of power like being associate editor. If it is some URM policy to support females by putting them as associate editor, then everyone knows it is URM policy. White people only badmouth people of color like LM from Columbia (female, Hispanic) or Fryer from Harvard (blk guy).
I predict next step will be to appoint f*male grad students to the AER editorial board. It will be under the disguise of "making students have a voice in the review process" but the real goal is to move the gender ratio towards a more acceptable ratio. Reminder that AER has appointed an editor who has only 1 top publication (coauthored with a superstar) in 30+ years of career.
I for one doubt she's excellent. Her paper is the finest example of data invention I can think of.
During internal presentations lots of issues with the results came up, and somehow were always resolved at the next presentation.
It's pretty amazing what you can achieve when you can just delete "faulty" observations!
