I warmly recommend the book Naming Infinity. It tells the story of the Moscow school of mathematics (a truly fascinating story, full of mysticism and political persecution). It’s speculated there that Kolmogorov and Alexandrov (who were a romantic couple) cooperated with the persecution of Luzin in order that the authorities won’t bother them for being ghey.

Yeah I even have a copy of Naming Infinity, but couldn't put my hands on it before I finish reading all the other stuff in my reading list. Very interesting, will give it a try.
