Up to what extent do the points here apply to Booth?
Why is Chicago so hated?

there is no such thing as "advisor" or "advising" in chicago, let alone asking how often/how long meetings with them are
The truth is we bump into (CM/SL), tell them we want to go to industry, and here's our (below undergrad-quality work) research. Can you let us go?Swanist

That's been my exact experience dealing with a faculty at this place.
Don't have time now. Lets cOntinue this tomorrow. My short answer is that for now you get the constrained optima... Which is NOT being a sorry ass copy of MIT ( looking at Stanford will tell you that does not work either)
^ question is: which one is the way to go? by any reasonable standard the answer is pretty clear

The above is somewhat correct. It is true that many profs will simply ignore you (FA is notorious) while Harald is always willing to talk and is generous with his time. He is extremely obnoxious in seminars and will not let you continue if your notation confuses him but in one on one meetings is indeed kind.
