I can't get along with them. They are weird and not pleasant
Why is job market so bad for Asian Males?
-
The poor performance of Asian graduate students in the market is actually strong evidence in favor of the open-mindedness of graduate admission committees. Again and again, we have seen Asian students do well in first-year courses only to show close to zero creativity in research, except outside certain fields like econometrics, where the questions are handed down by the advisor.

It isn't bad for asian males once you control for 1. citizenship 2. discrimination against young men in general 3. women/catty-men in the workplace choosing to discriminate against men who come off as emasculate, timid, or nerdy (in a sane society orgs would de-prioritize these 2 groups from helping hire, instead they allow these 2 groups to have the largest voice because everyone else is actually just focused on their own projects) 4. spoken english language proficiency

They are raised for 25+ years in a dictatorship in which original and critical thinking, creativity, etc are actively suppressed before starting their PhDs. How could you expect that they would be suddenly creative and original and critical thinkers after 2 years of taking classes in a PhD? The fact that they are really good at classes but, on average, not as original in terms of research is just obvious given their upbringing and their background.

Except that doesn't hold since Indians are Asian too

It's not really the lack of personality. It's the lack of hygiene
There's a new hire in our department who wears sweatpants to the office, doesn't shower, and smells terrible. I'm not making this up at allas long as he's good at research who cares
We actually care.

This is not actually true.
US-born Asian-Americans who speak English well, have the same "creativity" as other US-born researchers, and are US citizens face the same discrimination in faculty hiring as international Asians.
