Yes, this. The fact that there is even a functioning territorial nationstate there at all is a legacy of European domination.
If they want to start grabbing things now, it's simply because they can, not because they have any right to it that the rest of us are obliged to recognize. By doing this, though, they will likely deprive themselves of the human capital that made the land and other assets valuable in the first place.
