Their placement is worse than Northwestern and it's harder to get in. So why people apply there?
Why would anyone go to MEDS?

I looked at their placement: http://www.kellogg.northwestern.edu/Departments/meds/programs/MECS/recent_job.aspx. 24 students in the last five years. Of those, Stern, LSE, LSE Finance, Rochester Simon x2, Penn, Chicago Harris, HBS, Toronto Rotman, Carnegie Mellon, Arizona, UC Irvine, Bonn, NU Singapore, ITAM, Bilkent, Drexel, 2 postdocs, and 4 private sector. How is this bad?

Heard from an ex MEDS faculty: Dean of Kellogg is adamantly averse to MEDS. Dean has no academic aspiration for the entire school (prefer to trust, take advice from, and hire non-academics in the entire administrative structure), but for some unspecified reason, she has serious disdain against MEDS (and Marketing as well). The dean recruited hardcore deadwoods from Finance and Strategy departments (and pumped-up their aspiration to lead the school with gifts like blank checks on hiring) to fight it out and mothball MEDS and Marketing. Insiders care to share the details?

Why this fearmongering on every thread?
