AY is not blacklisted. It's just he's own research isn't that good. But what he did is undeniably a public good to our profession and is highly valued. Hey, at least he's at a half-decent place now (Hofstra).
Yeah, both AY and WW (his co-author, now at OU) have moved up in the world in spite of because of their work. Neither of them are at Stanford or anything, but it seems like their careers have, if anything, been helped.

The profession isn't monolithic. If pick a fight with the English royals, the French and Spanish royals are perfectly willing to send you ships and supplies.
