So, maybe economics does have a culture problem if this is how those at the top of the profession think it's okay to treat others:

For most people who don't like Heckman, it's because he's an incompetent editor and generally a piece of work. He is certainly colorful though.
How did Wolfers hear about this outcome?
Did the author complain to him?

Since this blew up some, clarifications:
1) Yes, this is real.
2) Rejection at JPE is absolutely fair and the referee reports were helpful.
3) I thought this was mostly funny. I wasn't offended. I posted it to be funny.
4) The paper is well-executed and I'm very proud of it

This was after 6 months and 2 reports, so.....not that poorly executed?
All that extra time and help and you still couldn’t cut the mustard. Maybe you should start wearing a dress and soliciting men down by the docks. That seems more your speed, son.

This Heckman is a 99.9th percentile guy with >150 IQ.
Wolfers is a m1dw1t 120 IQ who doesn't get that he's not in Heckman's league. He is just insufferable noise for people like Heckman.
