   It’s going to be a while till we hear back from WBG guys, last year they only got back by late January for panel interviews across IBRD MIGA IFC profiles. Everybody on this forum died of anxiety for months, so unless WBG is extremely efficient this year (which is unlikely), just calm down, meditate, plan a vacation and enjoy the holiday season, if you don’t want to end up going crazy in the process. Save some anxiety for when the ‘real’ panel emails start going out!

   Thanks for this! Do we know if the 2022 batch started working at WBG late due to these delays or was the starting date September 2022? I have an offer for 2023 which I want to plan the contract time for accordingly.

   To people stressing out over this and weighing up pursuing other jobs, just know that we all of have extremely slim chances of being part of the select few that go through. My advice is to keep applying to the YPP for as long as you can but work on the assumption that its a long shot and you're probably not going to get it. Don't put your life on hold for this and pass up other offers. You have less than a 1% chance of being selected and I think its best to make peace with that and not get your hopes up to much

   Guys, this is a good advice. It is ok to be anxious its part of our Human nature. Not controling it will not change any outcome. Rather, we should create options for our selves by persuing other positions or forge other business ventures.

   YPP has a lot of added benefits, but once you’re done after 2 years you become an economist (or equivalent), right? So seems better to just skip right to economist?

   The new cohort of 2022 has already commenced, all in person. The intake was smaller with just a total of 44 YPs (both IFC and IBRD) representing 26 countries and 48% of them being women.

    YPP has a lot of added benefits, but once you’re done after 2 years you become an economist (or equivalent), right? So seems better to just skip right to economist?

    Except that realistically the YP is likely to get a promotion before you who joins as an economist. There is a reason people in the Bank have a bone to pick with YPs. The Bank holds YPs in high regard and many in positions of leadership are former YPs.

    People at the Bank don't like YPs because they believe the Bank favors YPs. It is a stupid argument but I guess it makes them feel better. There have even been cases where some have advocated for abolishing the YP program but ofcourse it is wasted advocacy.

    But now, they wanna split the grades - F1 and F2, G1 and G2. Thus, YP may not move to senior economist in 5 years in the future

    People at the Bank don't like YPs because they believe the Bank favors YPs. It is a stupid argument but I guess it makes them feel better. There have even been cases where some have advocated for abolishing the YP program but ofcourse it is wasted advocacy.

    Abolishing YP because they move faster? Those old hands should just go and relax. YPs are the leaders of tomorrow!

    Does anyone else remember the birth date eligibility being "on or after October 1, 1990"? On the main eligibility page it now says "on or after October 1, *1991*" which suggests I am not eligible but I could SWEAR - and I scrutinized this for a while as I am at the cutoff - it previously said 1990... Am I going crazy? Indeed, if you look at the FAQ page it says in multiple areas that eligibility is *1990*.

    This year it was Oct1, 1990. We would have been out already. I have done the hirevue interview and i am born in early 1991.
