I receive the email for uploading reference and passport documents, but my portal is not open to submit any materials. Does anyone have the same issue?
You already got an email??

Yes I have also received the request and am experiencing the same issue as you are now. Still waiting for their response.

What business area?

I have received a new, updated email from them (which you may have gotten as well). The portal is now open for submission of supplemental materials.
Ok so the review application is in batches, and it's random batches, a mix between early application and further down the line. Everyone will definitely know by October. It's my 3rd and last time applying.
For those moving along the process, they will ask for the 3 references and a picture of your passport.
IF you pass that round, then it will be pre-recorded interviews.
Then the live interview.
They will email everyone along the way to give them news about their applications.
Just be patient and don't put all your eggs in one basket. It's 50ish spots for almost 5k applicants...
Did you get shortlisted previously? I’ve been shortlisted but no offer and wondering whether it’ll happen again this year. I don’t know how to be more competitive

5k applicants? The number used to be higher.

Yes, there used to be over 10k applicants. I sent my application in the last 6 hours and the number was 4200+... So id ont think there are more than 5k people applying this year...
I guess they started going through the applications before the closing date.
Remember that if you get the request for the references and passport that means they think you meet the minimum requirements.
They will be more selective with the prerecorded interview and way more with the live interview (maybe around 100-150 people will get an invitation for this)...
It's my third and last time applying and only sent it because I had the documents ready. Once you have the essay it's very easy to modify it to fit the new question each year...
Good luck everyone!

Not to dissuade everyone, but do approach this round with a grain of salt if you're, say, a white male or an Indian male, or any combination of traits that are very common in the WBG. Just look at previous selections of YPP and you'll see that it is intentionally very diverse, which means there's very few people selected from any given country. Since more males apply than females, the same issue comes up. Again, not saying you shouldn't try, but realize that it can be much more competitive for you depending on your characteristics.
I would say male from non third world countries in general

I am sorry for this mate. On the flip side, it's good that at least they are giving feedback early. I hope they continue so.
Can you kindly share your application range?
