   I think the time the LOAs take are just a function of how complicated your case is. From those I know, most single, childless people, who are not eligible for a mobility premium got them fairly quickly.

   Also the LOA is not related to the background check. That is done separately and can continue after the LOA is signed. So checking if your references have been contacted doesn't help.

   Basically, don't despair if you're still waiting for an LOA. It's just a formality depending on how long HR needs to calculate and approve benefits.

   HR seems like very busy. I got my LOA with some mistakes and it took one week to correct them. Don’t worry guys, all of you will get the LOAs.

   They cut the salary in half. Standard World Bank way of doing things.

    I just want to share that the background checks start after signing the LOA, so the waiting time to get the LOA does not depend on possible difficulties with the background checks

    FYI I got my LOA a few weeks ago and yesterday got an email asking me to fill out information for a third party background check form. It asks similar info to the Bank's form that we filled out with the LOI, but asks for more detail.
