Hi everyone!
Quite confused on all the posts here.
Would love to hear if anyone from the first batch of applications for WBG YPP (deadline of LORs was 1st September 2020) has received any interview invitation yet?
Thanks!

There was one guy with bad english claiming he got an interview but someone else claiming that was fake news. Then some reports of perhaps some early invitations issued, but also secondhand. It's unclear, doesn't seem like they've sent yet; I think we would know.
Enough with the pompous critiques on a candidate’s English. It’s a cheap way to discredit someone.

The YPP home page says:
"The World Bank Group is not affiliated with nor does it endorse any third-party sites selling products and services related to the YPP selection process. All information on the YPP selection process is described on this website and is free to all prospective applicants."
Lindsay Lim is the former Young Professional who started the group/course to get people into the YPP - and has advertised on this forum. She charges 149 euros for the premium course. To me, this defeats the entire point of the YPP and makes it more unequitable because those from developing countries (who the YPP targets) cannot always afford the 149 euros and the advantages it brings. Lindsay has since left the World Bank and has tried to get former YP's who are still at the bank to provide support to her in exchange for her helping them get jobs OUTSIDE of the World Bank. It's really messed up. It's clear the World Bank has distanced itself from her - and it's a been messed up that she's making the playing field more unequitable.

Better learn how to handle criticism as there will be more coming in. Not everyone is kind enough to point out your weaknesses. Instead of feeling offensive, use criticism as a catalyst to improve yourself. Not to mention that the guy might have been spreading false information on this forum (very very likely).

Criticism != hate from a random guy (mostly white cis native English speaker male) in a toxic Internet forum who is “kind enough” to think he is better because of how he writes his obnoxious posts. And who said they haven’t gone through criticism?
Hey, aren't you the same guy dishing out the critique in the first place? You shouldn't be so offended either, use this as an opportunity to improve yourself :)

That "random guy" is actually a lady. Her skin is not white. Her native language is not English.
