in taking economics i was shocked to find how few of my classmates knew even basic things like gdp, unemployment rate, and population. but they would do high level math like invert matrices and brag about it. and most economists cannot forecast the market or gdp. that is why i chose to do a phd in political economy. relevant and hands on economics in the verbal tradition of the great ones. take that.
you are not economists

The fact is the following: people can complain about what is done in academia. They can complain about math, graphs, other "useless stuff" etc., BUT, in the end of the day, those who do "useful" things do obtain their education under those who do "useless" stuff.

I was a sociology and political philosophy double major, buddy, so yes, I have indeed read Marx. I even did a senior thesis on Das Kapital.
But then I grew up.
bet you all have not even read marx or mill or von mises but can do high level calculus to impress each other.

the amazing thing is that those who do useful things pay those who do useless things to teach them how to do useless things, how useless is that?
