how much does he make at hedge fund?
His fund (Mingshi) has 15 billion RMB AUM, with the best performance among all the quant funds of China in 2021. You can roughly guess how much he can make as the single partner in his company. Even 2% management fee gives him 300 million RMB which is over 40 million USD. This has not include the 20% of carry.
If you assume he "only" gets 15% return for his funds, carry will be 450 million RMB which is 67 million USD. In total his fund gets more than 100 million USD as the income if you assume a 15% return.
Of course he needs to pay those channel fees, and may charge a bit less than 20% of carry. He also need to share those with one or two very successful PM and pay several quant analysts and free interns.
But, I still prefer journal of finance than 100 million USD every year!!!!
